A Different Kind of Ibiza
When the summer rush fades, Ibiza transforms — not into a sleepy island, but into something more genuine, relaxed, and full of local charm. The pace slows, the light softens, and the island’s natural rhythm takes over. Winter is when Ibiza feels most authentic — a time to enjoy the outdoors, reconnect with the community, and rediscover what makes this island so special.

Island Life Without the Crowds
Winter in Ibiza means clear skies, calm roads, and warm, sunny days perfect for exploring. With fewer visitors, beaches are quiet, restaurants are local, and the island’s landscapes open up for you to enjoy at your own pace.

Take a stroll through Dalt Vila’s ancient streets, stop for coffee in Santa Gertrudis, or drive across the island in under an hour — no traffic, no queues, just wide views and Mediterranean light.

Things to Do in Ibiza During Winter

1. Hike or Cycle Through the Countryside
The cooler months are ideal for being outdoors. Explore trails that weave through pine forests, coastal cliffs, and quiet farmland. Favourite routes include the paths around Es Cubells, the northern hills of San Juan, and the coastline near Cala d’Hort.

Recommended: Try the Sa Talaia hike, the island’s highest point, for panoramic views across Ibiza and Formentera — then stop by Can Jordi Blues Station nearby for a coffee, cold beer or a live jam session with locals.

2. Beach Walks and Winter Swims
Ibiza’s beaches are beautiful all year round. A walk along Salinas or Cala Conta in winter is something special — empty sand, turquoise water, and the sun still warm enough for a quick dip if you’re brave.

Recommended: Enjoy a peaceful morning walk along Las Salinas, where you might spot flamingos in the salt flats and enjoy the calm sea air. Then settle in for a long, relaxed lunch at La Escollera, one of the few beach restaurants open year-round. It’s the perfect spot for a glass of wine, good food, and people-watching under the winter sun.

Salinas

3. Long Lunches and Local Food
Winter is when locals take time to enjoy the island’s restaurants. Head inland for Sunday lunches by the fire, discover traditional Ibicencan dishes like sofrit pagès, or enjoy a long, lazy seafood lunch by the sea in Es Cubells or Cala Boix.

Recommended: Book a table at Can Pujol near San Antonio for grilled fish and sea views, or Cas Pagès on the road to San Carlos for a classic, family-run Ibicencan meal that’s been a favourite for decades.

Rest

4. Local Markets and Village Life
With fewer crowds, it’s easy to enjoy Ibiza’s weekly markets. Las Dalias, San Juan, and Forada are great spots for live music, local produce, and a relaxed community vibe. Grab a juice, chat with local artisans, and enjoy the slower pace.

Recommended: Visit the San Juan Sunday Market for organic food, handmade crafts and live acoustic music — it’s one of the best ways to experience Ibiza’s community spirit in winter.

Dalias

5. Wellness, Creativity and Connection
Ibiza’s calm energy in winter makes it perfect for resetting. Yoga studios, sound healers and art workshops continue through the off-season, while local cafés and co-working spaces attract a mix of residents, creatives and digital nomads who call the island home year-round.

Recommended: Treat yourself to a spa day at Hotel Fenicia Spa in Santa Eulalia, open all year. Enjoy the heated pool, hydrotherapy circuit, and massages — ideal for recharging after a winter walk or weekend hike.

Why We Love Winter in Ibiza

  • Mild, sunny weather — often around 18–20°C by day
  • Space to breathe — beaches, roads, and restaurants all to yourself
  • A strong sense of community — locals, friends, and familiar faces
  • Time to explore — discover a side of Ibiza most visitors never see

Experience the Real Ibiza
Winter is when the island slows down, but life doesn’t stop — it just feels more balanced, more real, and more yours. Whether you’re here for a season or a lifetime, Ibiza in winter is something everyone should experience.

Top 10 Bucket List Experiences in Ibiza This Summer https://www.villacontact.com/en/top-10-bucket-list-experiences-in-ibiza-this-summer/ Thu, 10 Jul 2025 08:10:05 +0000 https://www.villacontact.com/?p=66103 Sunshine, salt air, and the promise of unforgettable memories Ibiza in summer 2025 is calling. Whether you’re a long-time lover of the island or planning your first adventure, there’s always something new to discover. At Villa Contact, we live and breathe Ibiza year-round, so we’ve gathered our ultimate summer bucket list to help you experience the very best of the island. Ready? Let’s dive in.

  1. Catch the Sunset at Cala Conta (With a Twist)

Yes, Cala Conta is iconic. But this year, go a little earlier and snag a spot at Sunset Ashram. Sip a fresh fruit cocktail, listen to eclectic live DJ sets, and watch the sky turn molten gold. It’s the kind of Ibiza magic that never gets old.

  1. Spend a Day on Formentera by Private Boat

This one’s a classic for a reason. Rent a boat (we’ll help you find the perfect captain), cruise across turquoise waters, and drop anchor at Illetes. Pair your swim with lunch at Juan y Andrea or Beso Beach—barefoot glamour at its finest.

  1. Eat Like a Local in Santa Gertrudis

Trade beach bars for cobblestone charm in the heart of the island. Grab a bite at Bar Costa, famous for its rustic jamón serrano bocadillos and quirky art collection. Then wander the boutiques and galleries hidden around the square.

  1. Hike to Atlantis at Sunrise

This isn’t on the average tourist itinerary—and that’s exactly why it’s on ours. Atlantis, a mythical rock formation carved into a secret cove below Es Vedrà, is a spiritual experience. Go early to beat the heat (and the crowds). You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into another world.

  1. Explore the North in a Vintage Mehari

There’s no better way to explore the bohemian north than from behind the wheel of a candy-coloured Citroën Mehari. Cruise through San Juan, Benirràs, and Portinatx, and stop for a swim wherever the road (or dirt track) leads you.

  1. Discover Ibiza’s New Wave of Dining

Ibiza’s food scene is thriving. Book ahead for a table at Juntos House in San Mateo—an elegant farm-to-fork restaurant set on a dreamy finca. Or try Casa Lhasa in Santa Gertrudis for natural wines and wildly good small plates.

  1. Dance Under the Stars at Akasha

Move over mega-clubs. Akasha, the intimate, open-air venue in Las Dalias, has redefined Ibiza nightlife. Think soul-stirring music, barefoot dancing, and a vibrant, mixed crowd. No velvet ropes, just good energy.

  1. Reconnect at a Wellness Retreat

If your summer dream includes slowing down, book a day (or a week) at Atzaró Agroturismo. Their tranquil gardens, holistic spa, and daily yoga sessions offer the perfect reset. Don’t miss their seasonal garden-to-table lunches.

  1. Find Your Secret Beach

We all have one. This year, make it Cala d’en Serra, a tiny bay framed by cliffs and crowned with an abandoned hotel (a relic from Ibiza’s wilder days). Pack a picnic, bring a snorkel, and don’t forget your sense of adventure.

  1. Watch the Moon Rise Over Dalt Vila

For one of the most romantic moments of the summer, grab a gelato and stroll the ancient streets of Dalt Vila at twilight. When the full moon rises over the fortress walls, casting silver light across the harbour, you’ll understand why so many fall in love with Ibiza—and never leave.

Ready to make your Ibiza dream a reality? Whether you’re planning a trip or thinking of finding a home here, we at Villa Contact are here to help. From secret beaches to spectacular villas, we know the island like locals—because we are.

Hidden Beaches & Coves in Ibiza You Must Visit in 2025 https://www.villacontact.com/en/65283-2/ Mon, 02 Jun 2025 10:03:36 +0000 https://www.villacontact.com/?p=65283 Beneath the sparkle of Ibiza’s legendary nightlife, luxe beach lounges, and those postcard-perfect sunsets lies a quieter, untouched side of the island. Think secret coves tucked between rugged cliffs and beaches so hidden, they feel like your own private escape. These serene corners of Ibiza offer a refreshing contrast to the lively buzz, inviting you to slow down and soak in the raw beauty of the Mediterranean. Consider this your low-key roadmap to some of the island’s most under-the-radar gems – those quiet stretches of sand where time seems to pause.

Punta Galera, located on Ibiza’s west coast, offers something genuinely unique. Rather than a traditional sandy beach, Punta Galera features broad, flat stone terraces carved naturally into the cliffs. To access this gem, you’ll need to navigate a short rocky path from Sant Antoni de Portmany. It’s perfect for adventurous visitors, providing crystal-clear waters ideal for snorkelling and cliff diving. As evening approaches, Punta Galera also transforms into one of the island’s most serene spots to watch the sunset. Just remember to pack snacks, water, and sunscreen, as there are no facilities nearby.

Heading southwest, Cala Llentrisca is another secluded spot well worth the effort. This tiny fishermen’s cove, tucked beneath the cliffs of Es Cubells, is accessible only via a picturesque hike or boat. The descent involves a moderately challenging trek, but your reward is a remarkably untouched pebble beach with turquoise waters teeming with marine life. Snorkelers will be so happy with the underwater world here, untouched by mass tourism. Visit early in the morning to enjoy complete solitude.

For those venturing north, Cala d’en Serra, near Portinatx, awaits. Accessible by a short dirt path descending from an abandoned hotel, this small, picturesque cove is embraced by lush, pine-covered hills. Its brilliant turquoise waters make it an exceptional spot for swimming and snorkelling, with plenty of marine creatures inhabiting its rocky seabed. During summer months, a cute beach chiringuito offers refreshments, adding charm to the cove’s already idyllic setting. Don’t miss exploring the eerie beauty of the abandoned hotel perched above for some intriguing photo opportunities.

On Ibiza’s east side, Cala Olivera remains a closely guarded local secret. Nestled within the gated residential community of Roca Llisa, visitors are welcome to access the cove’s tiny pebble-and-sand beach through a rough dirt track. Cala Olivera offers shallow, crystal-clear waters perfect for snorkelling and relaxation. The presence of a small rustic beach bar enhances the charm of this hidden gem. Arriving early guarantees both sunshine and solitude, making for a peaceful morning escape.

Tucked away on Ibiza’s northeast coast near Sant Carles, Pou d’es Lleó quietly captures the island’s rustic charm. Even though it’s easier to reach than some of Ibiza’s hidden spots, this peaceful bay still flies under the radar, even in the height of summer. Weathered fishermen’s huts dot the shoreline, perfectly at home against the rugged coastal scenery. The crystal-clear waters invite slow snorkelling sessions or relaxed paddleboarding. Don’t miss the humble local chiringuito for fresh, no-fuss seafood, and if you’re up for a short walk, the nearby Torre d’en Valls offers sweeping views of the coast that are well worth the detour.

Es Portitxol, hidden along Ibiza’s rugged northern coastline, offers visitors an otherworldly experience. Accessible only via boat or a 1.5 km hike through lush pine forests, its isolation preserves the area’s pristine nature. This near-circular bay, encircled by steep cliffs, houses transparent turquoise waters that are perfect for a mid-hike dip. The sense of seclusion here is unmatched, giving visitors a rare chance to experience Ibiza’s untouched wilderness firsthand.

Further north, Es Canaret offers another secluded haven, historically mistaken as a private beach due to nearby luxury estates. A gentle walk through woods and rocky terrain opens to a cove characterised by red-hued cliffs and shimmering blue-green waters. Pack a picnic, as there are no facilities, and relish having this serene spot nearly to yourself.

Perhaps Ibiza’s most mythical hidden location is Atlantis, or Sa Pedrera de Cala d’Hort. This secret cove isn’t a traditional beach but a former sandstone quarry. The carved rock formations and natural pools create an almost mystical landscape reminiscent of a lost civilisation. Access requires a challenging hike down steep terrain near Cala d’Hort, rewarding adventurers with a mesmerising view of the mysterious Es Vedrà island.

Finally, for thrill-seekers, Ses Balandres on the northwest coast presents the ultimate challenge. This dramatic cove is reached only by a daring descent down a cliff using ropes and ladders. Those who brave the journey are rewarded with stunning isolation, dramatic cliffs, and views of the iconic Ses Margalides sea arch. It’s the epitome of adventure and solitude, encapsulating Ibiza’s wild spirit.

These hidden coves and beaches of Ibiza offer an alternative view of an island famous for its vibrant nightlife. Venture beyond the beaten path, and you’ll discover the true magic of Ibiza’s secret shoreline.

New Ibiza Restaurant Openings https://www.villacontact.com/en/new-ibiza-restaurant-openings-2025/ Mon, 31 Mar 2025 10:43:18 +0000 https://www.villacontact.com/?p=63995 Ibiza is a paradise for food lovers! We have so many favourites on the island, and as we move toward the 2025 season, a fresh wave of restaurants is set to make their debut, bringing new and unique dining experiences. Ibiza’s food scene is about to get even more exciting! Let’s dig into what’s new for 2025.

One of the most talked-about openings is Clap House Ibiza, landing in Talamanca and expected to open in July 2025. After winning hearts in Beirut and London, CLAP is bringing its signature blend of Japanese and Mediterranean cuisine to the island. Set in a chic, Wabi-Sabi-inspired space with an upscale pool club, this venue promises a stylish atmosphere paired with a refined menu.

For those who appreciate rustic charm and farm-fresh flavours, Soho Farmhouse Ibiza in Santa Gertrudis is set to welcome guests in Spring 2025. Staying true to the Soho House philosophy, this retreat will feature a restaurant and bar focusing on farm-to-table dining, with ingredients sourced directly from its own organic garden.

San Antonio Bay is also in for a culinary upgrade with the arrival of Bonito Ibiza by O Beach, set to open in June 2025. A collaboration between NCalma Hotels and the legendary O Beach, this hotspot will house multiple dining spaces, including Bonito Restaurant for a mix of international and local dishes, and Cielito, a rooftop Mexican bar and restaurant – ideal for sunset cocktails.

Food enthusiasts, brace yourselves – Hell’s Kitchen is launching its first European location in April 2025. The Unexpected Hotel in Playa d’en Bossa is the home to this world-famous restaurant, bringing Gordon Ramsay’s signature flair to the island.

Meanwhile, fans of Brazilian barbecue will have a new go-to spot with Cãrnesa. Formerly known as Es Caliu, this rebranded eatery will introduce the island to the rich traditions of a Churrascaria Brasiliana, serving up expertly grilled meats in a lively setting. From spring 2025.

Cãrnesa post

Another exciting addition is Amalurino, an elegant bistro concept from the team behind Amalur. Opening at Cana Pepeta in Spring 2025, this sophisticated spot will specialise in refined Mediterranean cuisine, prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and served in a relaxed yet upscale setting.

After a two-year hiatus, Babylon Beach is making a comeback in 2025 – so it’s almost brand new. Now under the ownership of a British artist, the beloved beachfront spot will retain its signature laid-back charm while introducing a creative new twist – an on-site art gallery.

Bringing a slice of Italy to Ibiza, Già Sai is all about authentic flavours with a modern twist. This restaurant opened at the end of the season in 2024 in San Antonio Bay, and blends traditional Italian cooking with contemporary elegance, serving up handmade pasta, fresh seafood risotto, and perfectly crisp pizzas.

With such a diverse array of restaurants on the horizon, 2025 is shaping up to be a spectacular year for food lovers in Ibiza.

The Best Walking Routes in Ibiza https://www.villacontact.com/en/the-best-walking-routes-in-ibiza/ Fri, 13 Sep 2024 11:19:37 +0000 https://www.villacontact.com/?p=56545

From family strolls to expert hikes, here is a guide to the best walking routes in Ibiza.

Ibiza’s natural beauty is breathtaking, with its diverse landscapes offering a peaceful retreat for nature lovers, walkers and hikers. The island is known for its dramatic coastlines, crystal-clear waters, and hidden coves. The towering rock formation of Es Vedrà adds an air of mystery, standing majestically off the coast.

Inland, the green hills and forests contrast the arid Mediterranean scenery, with some of the hiking trails offering panoramic views across the island. Ibiza’s scenic charm is truly unmatched, so there really is something for everyone – whether you’re seeking a family-friendly stroll or a challenging trek.

Here are some of the best walking trails, ranging from easy paths ideal for families with children to more adventurous routes for experienced hikers.

Ses Salines Natural Park

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Length: 3 km
  • Perfect for: Families and children

A delightful walk through the salt flats and sandy beaches of Ses Salines Natural Park is perfect for families, including younger children. Located on the southern tip of Ibiza, this route winds through the wetlands where you can spot a variety of bird species, including flamingos! The path leads you past sand dunes, salt ponds, and eventually to the picturesque Ses Salines beach. With plenty of flat terrain, it’s a gentle introduction to Ibiza’s natural landscapes, and kids will love the wildlife and beach play. For the adults, there are a few beach bars to stop for refreshments.

Cala Llonga to Sol d’en Serra

  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Length: 2 km (one way)
  • Perfect for: Family adventure

This walk, starting from the beach resort of Cala Llonga, takes you on a scenic path to the more secluded beach of Sol d’en Serra. While relatively short, the path is a bit rocky, making it more suitable for families with older children who are up for a bit of an adventure.

The route offers amazing views of the turquoise sea and rugged cliffs. End your walk with a refreshing dip in the sea.

Santa Agnès Almond Blossom Trail

  • Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
  • Length: 5 km
  • Perfect for: Nature lovers and easy-going walkers

If you visit Ibiza during the almond blossom season (late January to February), the Santa Agnès walking route is a must-do.

The circular path takes you through almond orchards that bloom into a sea of white and pink flowers. Starting from the charming village of Santa Agnès, the route is mostly flat and follows dirt tracks, making it suitable for most fitness levels. It’s ideal for families or casual walkers looking to enjoy a peaceful stroll surrounded by natural beauty.

Cala Salada to Punta Galera

  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Length: 3 km (one way)
  • Perfect for: Families with older children or beginner hikers

This trail, which runs from Cala Salada beach to Punta Galera, is a favourite for its breathtaking coastal and sunset views. The path can be a bit rocky in places, but the reward is Punta Galera’s unique stone plateau, perfect for sunbathing or swimming. Because of this terrain, you may find yoga or meditation sessions happening, especially throughout golden hour into the sunset.

Sa Talaia

  • Difficulty: Challenging
  • Length: 4.5 km (round trip)
  • Perfect for: Experienced hikers

For more experienced walkers, the Sa Talaia hike should be on your list. Sa Talaia is the highest peak in Ibiza, standing at 475 metres. The walk starts from the village of Sant Josep and involves a steep climb, but the panoramic views from the top are more than worth the effort.

You’ll be rewarded with sweeping vistas of the island, and on a clear day, you can even see the neighbouring island of Formentera. This is a challenging hike, but it’s relatively short, making it achievable for those with a moderate to high fitness level.

Es Portitxol Cove

  • Difficulty: Moderate to Challenging
  • Length: 3.5 km (round trip)
  • Perfect for: Seasoned hikers and adventurers

If you’re looking for an off-the-beaten-path experience, the Es Portitxol hike is ideal. The route starts from the remote area of Sant Miquel and involves a descent down to the isolated Es Portitxol cove.

The path can be steep and rocky, so it’s best suited for more experienced hikers. There is also no phone signal, so make sure to do the hike with others. The stunning cove, which is a hidden gem, rewards those who make the effort with crystal-clear waters and a peaceful atmosphere.

Puig de Missa

  • Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
  • Length: 2 km (one way)
  • Perfect for: History enthusiasts and casual walkers

This short but rewarding walk takes you to the top of Puig de Missa, a hill crowned by a 16th-century church overlooking the town of Santa Eulària des Riu. The route is paved and easy to follow, with steps leading up to the church. It’s suitable for families and children who can manage a slight incline. Once at the top, you’ll be rewarded with beautiful views of the coastline and the chance to explore the historic church.

If you’re able to do this hike at sunrise, take the opportunity! The views are incredible.

Ibiza’s walking routes are diverse and offer something for everyone, whether you’re exploring with young children or looking for a challenging hike. From the serene trails of Ses Salines to the rugged cliffs of Punta Galera, Ibiza’s natural beauty is best discovered on foot. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear, carry water, and take time to enjoy the stunning scenery.

10 Ways to Keep Your Finca Warm in Winter https://www.villacontact.com/en/10-ways-to-keep-your-finca-warm-in-winter/ Thu, 11 Jan 2024 15:14:05 +0000 https://www.villacontact.com/?p=52265

Even though we have over 300 days of sunshine a year in Ibiza, the winter months can get quite chilly, especially as older fincas and villas aren’t exactly designed for winter.

There are things you can do, however, to ensure that you are warm and cosy living or visiting Ibiza out of season.

1. Ventilation and Insulation

Strategic ventilation for your Ibiza villa is key. While it’s important to allow fresh air in every day, be mindful of not letting the warmth escape. Before the cold descends, check your windows and doors for any drafts and use sealants or weatherstripping to close any gaps.

2. Efficient Use of Heaters

If your finca has radiators, ensure they’re bled properly to remove any trapped air as this will enhance their efficiency. Remember not to obstruct radiators with furniture or other objects, allowing for free circulation of heat.

3. Smart Thermostat Control

Instead of completely turning off your heating when you’re away, try to keep a moderate, constant temperature in your home. This approach is not only more comfortable for you when you return to the villa, but also cost-effective as it avoids the high energy consumption associated with frequently changing temperatures.

4. Maximize Natural Sunlight

Remember those 300+ days of sunshine each year? Use them to your advantage! During daylight hours, open curtains and blinds, especially on south-facing windows, to take advantage of solar gain. As the sun sets, close them to retain the heat.

5. Rugs and Carpets

Around 10% of heat loss in homes can occur through bare floors. Using rugs or carpets can significantly reduce this loss, keeping your floors, and your feet, warmer. Then in summer, simply roll them up and store them to ensure a cooler villa in the hotter months.

6. Chimney Management

If you are lucky enough to have an open fire in your finca, remember to close the flue when it’s not in use. An open chimney can draw out a significant amount of heat from your home. Make sure to have the chimney swept at the beginning of the fire season to ensure maximum ventilation.

8. Utilise Oven Heat

After baking or cooking, leave the oven door slightly open to allow the residual heat to warm up your kitchen. But remember, this should be done carefully and with consideration for safety, especially if there are children around.

9. Curtains and Blinds

Switch your light summer curtains for thicker ones, or install cellular blinds with air pockets for better insulation. Dark-coloured curtains can also be more effective in absorbing and keeping in heat. Most Spanish villas also have external shutters, so make sure to close these as the sun goes down.

10. Warm Yourself, Not the Room

Wearing an extra layer of clothing or using fleecy blankets can be a more energy-efficient way of staying warm, plus your sofas will look warm and inviting with some extra throws and pillows on them. Thermal clothing, particularly as a base layer, can be highly effective in keeping warm over winter.

By implementing even a couple of these strategies, your finca in Ibiza can transform into a warm haven, offering comfort and warmth without excessively high energy costs.

Remember, a warm home in winter is not just about heating systems; it’s also about smart, energy-efficient practices that enhance your living experience.

Property Renovations in Ibiza: Our Top Tips https://www.villacontact.com/en/property-renovations-in-ibiza-our-top-tips/ Thu, 31 Aug 2023 10:41:58 +0000 https://www.villacontact.com/?p=50151 Looking to renovate a property in Ibiza. Read this before you start…

Think about this…

The moment you walk through the front door of your Ibiza property, do you feel a spark of excitement?

If not, perhaps it’s time to breathe new life into your apartment or villa.

Or maybe you are considering selling and want to add some value to your property before putting it on the market.

Either way, renovating a property in Ibiza doesn’t have to be daunting. To help you with this, we have put together 5 tips for you to follow when embarking on your next renovation project:

1. Embrace eco-friendliness

The interest in environmentally sustainable home products continues to grow. Investing in an eco-friendly, energy-efficient home, though it might be slightly pricier initially, is increasingly worthwhile. Whether that is by using eco-friendly building materials, investing in solar panels or simply using products and contractors from the island (to offset travel/shipping implications) your investment should eventually be offset by resulting energy savings.

2. Plan really well

Planning your renovation well is the key. Selecting your products early so that you don’t end up with delays will help you stick to your budget, and by choosing recommended providers, experienced in diverse projects, multilingual, and cost-effective renovations, you will save significant time (and money) in the long run.

3. Get out of the way

During renovations, temporary relocation from living areas and kitchens may be required. Whether you’re able to relocate completely whilst working on the renovation project, or simply set up a makeshift kitchen/dining area away from the site so that you are still able to prepare and eat meals throughout the day, you can minimise disruption and avoid overspending on things like eating out.

4. Focus on the right things

There are certain upgrades that you can do on a home that will raise its value significantly, without too much outlay. Enhancing the kitchen is definitely one of these types of upgrades that you should consider. It doesn’t always mean a full overhaul; sometimes updating countertops, cupboards and a fresh paint job would suffice.

Another smart property upgrade is the lighting, both natural and installed. Intelligent lighting can completely transform a property. Think about implementing floor-to-ceiling windows for maximum natural light, adding external shutters, creating windows with optimal views, or investing in a bathroom skylight.

Flooring is another thing that significantly affects the look of a home. It doesn’t necessarily require a new investment either; simply re-sanding or painting existing wooden floors can transform the whole property.

5. Think quality

You might think about choosing the cheapest items when you’re on a budget, but it’s more than likely that you will be purchasing low-quality products which will need to be replaced much quicker than something more expensive.

For the best long-term return on investment, mid-range products from a trusted brand are typically the best choice.

Remember, renovating a property doesn’t have to be daunting.

Holidays in Ibiza with Kids – Interview with Peekaboo https://www.villacontact.com/en/holidays-in-ibiza-with-kids-interview-with-peekaboo/ Fri, 23 Jun 2023 07:39:30 +0000 https://www.villacontact.com/?p=48626

Making your family holiday a lot easier

Ibiza is renowned as a destination of choice for those seeking to soak up the perfect blend of serenity and vivacious energy. Yet, beyond its enticing nightlife and azure sea views, Ibiza is a treasure trove for families seeking a memorable summer holiday.

With its array of golden beaches, kid-friendly activities, and a diverse range of family-friendly villas, Ibiza is not just a haven for party-goers, but also a paradise for those with children in tow.

These spacious and secure holiday villas are equipped with all amenities needed to keep your little ones safe and entertained while offering you the luxury and tranquility you deserve.

And to make your stay even more seamless, companies like Peekaboo Ibiza are there to ensure you have everything you need for your little ones.

We recently spoke with Suzanne, founder and owner of Peekaboo Ibiza, a company dedicated to making your family holidays in Ibiza as effortless as possible by providing high-quality baby and child equipment for rent across the island.

Suzanne, can you share with us what brought you to Ibiza?

In the early 2000s, while working in Beijing, I met my now-husband, Robbie. We made the decision to move to Ibiza and step into the family real estate business. We embarked on this new journey alongside Robbie’s sister, Clea and it has been an incredible adventure since then.

What aspects of Ibiza made you fall in love with the island?

There are so many things to adore about Ibiza!

The unbeatable weather, the irresistible local cuisine, the awe-inspiring beauty of nature, and, above all, the cosmopolitan mix of people. Despite its size, Ibiza is a cultural melting pot, home to individuals from different nationalities living harmoniously together, and that’s something I find truly special.

Tell us about the inception of Peekaboo and your collaboration with Villa rentals across the island.

It’s been an incredible journey for me. I always found juggling travel with the needs of children quite stressful, especially with the huge list of “stuff” they need! Luggage limitations don’t help at all when you have to carry prams, cots, toys etc and so when you get to your holiday destination without your usual things, it’s difficult to create a relaxed atmosphere that your children are comfortable in.

So, I started sourcing and renting high quality baby and toddler equipment across Ibiza to help make a family’s life easier when travelling on their holidays. And the rest, as they say, is history!

I’ve penned down the detailed journey of Peekaboo’s inception and our working relationship with villa rentals in my blog.

Villa Contact serves a diverse and international clientele. Which languages do you and your team at Peekaboo communicate in?

The team at Peekaboo is as diverse as the clientele we serve. We are fluent in Dutch, Spanish, English, and French. We even speak a little Mandarin!

Holidays are all about relaxation. How does Peekaboo contribute to that ideal vacation experience?

We understand the need for parents to unwind during their vacation. By providing high-quality toys and baby equipment for rent, we ensure that the children are both safe and entertained. This allows parents the peace of mind and the freedom to truly relax and enjoy their holiday.

Finally, if you had to recommend one family-friendly area in Ibiza, where would it be?

I would definitely recommend Santa Eulalia. It’s an absolute haven for families, with lots of playgrounds and lovely beaches that feature child-friendly restaurants. But let me say this: Ibiza as a whole is welcoming to children. Most restaurants across the island are child-friendly, making it a wonderful place for a family holiday!

A sister project to the incredible Hämbre Ibiza, Sed also draws inspiration from its surrounding Mediterranean locale and seasonal regional flavours sourced at “Es Mercat”, Santa Eulalia’s daily farmers market.

1742 Ibiza
Dalt Villa – Ibiza Town

Edwin Vinke, the founder and head chef of the two Michelin star-awarded Dutch restaurant De Kromme Watergang, is the mastermind behind the mind-blowing menu at 1742 Ibiza. His passion shines through in every dish he creates. Everything on the menu is made from Ibiza’s organic produce, and the kitchen is conscientious, natural, and free from preservatives.

The restaurant’s location is surreal (within the beautifully restored Palace Bardaji, at the top of Dalt Vila), with two multisensorial-designed salons, a skyline rooftop terrace with stunning views over Ibiza’s Harbour and old town, and even a secret dining room for one-of-a-kind celebrations.

1742 Ibiza is a fabulous place to indulge in the highest standard of fine dining when you’re in Ibiza. If you’re looking for something truly unique, make sure to book a table at this exclusive dining spot.

UM Beach House
Santa Eulalia

UM Beach House Ibiza is a hidden gem located at the very end of the stunning Santa Eulalia promenade. This beachside restaurant offers breathtaking views of the sea and the river that separates Santa Eulalia from its neighbouring Siesta. This space was opened by the UM group in 2022, but it has been renamed and revamped for the 2023 season.

You can indulge in fresh seafood dishes, stunning salads, hearty mains and traditional rices paired with inventive cocktails and an extensive wine selection. Not only is it a beautiful restaurant, but the perfect spot to relax and take in your surroundings whilst sipping on your favourite tipple and enjoying the entertainment that they have to offer.

Juntos House
San Mateo

If farm-to-table dining and a beautifully relaxed atmosphere is your kind of thing, then a visit to Juntos House in 2023 is a must.

Their menu is built around produce from their very own farm, as well as other locally-grown and sourced ingredients. You can visit the restaurant, courtyard, garden or cocktail bar and they also have a boutique which sells carefully selected sustainable products.

Chiringuito Manolito
Formentera

You may have previously known this beautiful beachfront eatery as Can Joana, but the new owners, Ida and Vittorio, have transformed it into an exciting new concept that is bound to delight your senses and, most importantly, tickle your tastebuds when visiting Ibiza’s sister island, Formentera.

Located on Formentera’s stunning Playa Levante, this laid-back hangout offers an eclectic menu featuring mouthwatering dishes, decadent deserts and a beautiful wine list.

Chiringuito Manolito is far from fine dining. Instead, the atmosphere is relaxed and laid-back, with stripped-back tables set up in the sand dunes and Cuban salsa music filling the air. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and soak up the beauty of Formentera.

So, which one will you decide to visit this year? No matter your choice, we know that you’ll have another amazing dining experience.

From crafts to culture: Activities to enjoy throughout the Winter

As the island begins to adjust to a quieter pace of life, residents in Ibiza embrace what many describe as their favourite time of the year… the tranquil Balearic Winter.

With a little more time on our hands to enjoy everything the White Isle has to offer, it’s time to get involved in the many creative and cultural activities available during the seasonal break.

From a creative myriad of craft classes to museums, food fairs and markets, here is our latest list of insider recommendations for the Winter wind down.

Arts and craft classes for both young and old at L’Atelier 74

Just a short stroll off the main square in the picturesque village of Santa Gertrudis lies the charming and art inspired L’Atelier 74. Combining a café, craft workshop and custom boutique, this delightful destination offers a variety of classes including pottery, macramé and more for all ages. This is the perfect oasis for a rainy day or to simply escape from the masses.

A trip to the museum

Located in the winding cobbled streets of Dalt Vila, you will find the Ibiza Museum of Contemporary Art. Also known as MACE, it was inaugurated in 1969, and housed within the historic Hall of Arms and a Prova warehouse which was originally designed by Simón Poulet in 1727.

In more recent years, the space underwent a five-year reformation process after archaeological remains were found in the area. Now the modern and bright space further showcases a variety of avant-garde artists from across different backgrounds, some of which held a lasting impact upon the island’s illustrious cultural scene.

Wellbeing and workshops at Six Senses

Six Senses is a wonderful luxury hotel and retreat positioned in Portinax. It has an array of delightful wellbeing activities that take place throughout the Winter months, extending from sunset yoga to Hiit classes, meditation and even ecstatic dance and workshops to make your own soaps, elixirs, pottery and more!

Let your hippy side loose at Las Dalias

Lucky for island residents, the colourful and dynamic Las Dalias hippy market remains open during the Winter down time. Offering a relaxed opportunity to peruse the eclectic and artisanal stalls, or enjoy a hearty lunch backdropped by the sunshine, the sprawling garden terrace through to a cosy dinner by the fireplace inside early evening this venue is a must for all island visitors. Las Dalias provides a variety of live and electronic music all year round and is recognised as a great day out for the entire family.

Explore the outdoors on e-bikes

Ibiza is well known for its mostly pleasant mild Winter weather. There is always a sunny day around the corner to fully immerse yourself in nature. Hasha Ibiza offers a variety of e-bike tours that are suitable for all fitness levels, alongside the more challenging biking routes on offer. On an e-bike you can discover the island ‘off the beaten track’ and marvel at its incredible raw and natural beauty, whilst learning some incredibly fun and fascinating facts about Ibiza’s rich cultural history.

Local Christmas markets

As we are getting closer to the prime time holiday month of celebration, you can find a range of exciting pop up markets throughout December. Places such as theHub, Las Dalias and Vara de Rey in Ibiza town consistently offer their annual festive markets on select weekends. Whether you want to stock up on original handmade gifts or simply enjoy some festive cheer, the weekly event schedule is a highly sociable opportunity to connect with like minded island folk.

You can sip on mulled wine or custom cocktails and listen to local DJ sets and live music from innovative acts while you browse the variety of stalls offering everything from vintage clothing to crystals, leather goods and art pieces.

If you want to make winter in Ibiza a lifestyle, you may want to consider making Ibiza a more permanent feature. If you are looking for information on Ibiza rentals or relocation contact our island insider team to learn more.

Halloween in Ibiza https://www.villacontact.com/en/halloween-in-ibiza/ Wed, 07 Oct 2015 11:07:56 +0000 https://www.villacontact.com/?p=6392 blog halloween

Everyone thinks by the end of October the party is over in Ibiza, but nothing can be further from the truth. The build up to this time of year is immense. You’ll overhear children fervently discussing the various merits of costumes and which homes give away the best sweeties. Locals, workers and business owners have finally found a moment to stop look forward to what they think of as ‘their’ fiesta – Halloween.

In usual Ibiza style Halloween is treated with the utmost creativity and panache. Costumes are serious business and some people will spend weeks perfecting that flawless mix of homemade nonchalance, tacky fake blood and expertly applied makeup. There are so many performers, make-up artists, fashionistas and creative types on the island that Ibiza must be one of the top places in the world to get dressed for Halloween.

The biggest party of the week is Bambuddha’s legendary Halloween Ball. This restaurant and bar is transformed into a decadent cavern of depravity where you’ll never know who or what will pop out of the spider webs. Costumes are obligatory; it doesn’t matter who you are, no get up, no entry. It’s like walking onto the set of a Hollywood horror movie.

There are lots of smaller gatherings before the big Bambuddha event as people get together for pre-party shenanigans and to put the final touches on their costumes. Babylon Beach hosts a family friendly Halloween party replete with jack-o-lantern competitions, a visit from a zombie pirate clown, face painting, apple bobbing, stilt walkers, break dancers and any number of frightening delights. Parents often start their night with the kids at Babylon before dropping them with the babysitter and heading onto Bambuddha. It’s not unusual to see whole families of the walking dead.

The best place to start assembling your costume is La Cucaña in Calle Aragon in Ibiza town as well as stocking up on accessories at Almacen Wang on the way out of Ibiza and Almacen Baily in Santa Eulalia. Get in quick though; serious Halloween goers buy up the good stuff early on. who owns domain

Halloween marks the transition from the summer season into the more cosy and intimate winter. It’s the final party for everyone to let their hair down and it’s arguably one of the best parties the Island throws all year.
